Flex Arm Mounting System with 12-Inch Flex Arm
Flex Arm Mounting System with 12-Inch Flex Arm - Components

The Flex Arm Mounting Systems are used for mounting Adaptive Switches or other user-provided devices to wheelchairs, tables, bed rails or other fixed objects with appropriate surfaces. The components that come with the Flex Arm Mounting System with 12-Inch Flex Arm are pictured above. They include a Mealtime Partners Wheelchair Clamp and a 12-inch heavy-duty flex-arm with a ball and socket swivel end module attached. Mealtime Partners Adaptive Switch Mounting Plate Kits can be found in the Mounting Products webpage.

To install the Mounting System, the end of the Flex Arm without the swivel module is inserted into the smaller opening in the Clamp, and the thumbscrew tightened. The Wheelchair clamp can then be attached to a metal tubular structure on a wheelchair or bed (from 3/8" to 1 1/4" in diameter), and most flat table surfaces using the larger Clamp opening area. (For technical details about the Wheelchair Clamp, click here.)

The Flex Arm and swivel module can then be formed to the shape necessary to best serve the user. An optional Wheelchair Clamp Attachment Holder (MtP Part No. 4975) can be used to permit the Flex Arm to emerge in another direction (or to mount two objects at once).

A 1/4"-20 X 3/4" machine screw can be used to attach any lightweight object to the end of the swivel module. The Flex Arm Mounting Systems will support user provided devices up to around 1.25 lbs (20 ounces) depending on the length of the Flex Arm and the how it is shaped. The overall length of this Mounting System is approximately the length of the Flex Arm (12-inches) plus 3-inches for the end module, or 15-inches long.
